How to Create .htaccess in Windows

If you are using apache and its htaccess, you might often need to rename a predefined file to .htaccess in windows, normally you will get a warning with common method, "You must type a file name", because which file named as .* is illegal definition for windows.

Then how to rename my file to .htaccess in windows? command prompt may be googd choice for us.

1. If you get warning "You must type a file name"

2. Just try this in your command prompt

Type cmd in Start > Search box, and then click the cmd.exe

Locate your objective file, and run

rename yourfilename .htaccess

Note:

If you are using ftp software, you can try to rename your file to .htaccess in ftp.
