How to Close Adobe Updater

Adobe reader, Adobe Dreamwear, Adobe Flash Player ... No matter what you are using, Adobe updater will be installed in your system, and it will be opened by default. So you often find its icon in the windows status tray.

Normally the updater will check the newest version or other contents from the official servers. But for many people, this would be irritating. But it seems we cannot close adobe updater easily.

1、Close the updater from the adobe setting

This is a example from Adobe Reader 9, open the adobe reader, click the menu Edit -> Prefrence, Click Internet, you will see "Check for updates" opions.

Just select "Do not download or install updates automatically", the updates will  be closed.

If you are using Adobe Flash Player, Photoshop, etc, you must set it separatly.

Even if you have close it, you will find it do not close the updater really. the updater icon will be find in your status bar, the next method may be a good choice.

2. Delete Adobe Updater Directly

Delete these updater is a small tricks, no matter those settings are.  Different soft may have a different path, for more people, you can find it in .../Adobe/ directory.

Windows XP/2003 Users:

Delete: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6

Delete: C:\Documents and Settings\<Your name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Updater6

Windows 7/8 users:

>Delete: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6

Delete: >C:\Users\<Your name>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Updater6

If you are using CS6 suites:

Delete: >C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\UWA\AAM Updates Notifier.exe

And the >Adobe Application Manager (Updater).exe can be delete in the same time.
